 
Music influences the heart rate, respiration, blood pressure and pain perception and has a positive effect helping to build and boost one's immune system. Children are more able to accept their treatments, which can be extremely uncomfortable and many times painful. Music therapy can play an important role in the lives of these children and their families, helping them discover new ways to effectively cope, both physically and emotionally, with their hospitalization. Music therapy is the prescribed use of music and music-related strategies performed by highly skilled and qualified music therapists to assist and motivate children toward specific goals. It provides emotional support and motivation to the children and their families through the use of musical goal-oriented treatments.
